The Claremont Documentary Project is an initiative created by the Bronx Documentary Center in which photographers and community members collaborate to tell stories about life in Claremont, Bronx.
More than a third of Claremont residents are under 18, and the neighborhood's community centers, playgrounds, and basketball courts are a daily draw. These photographs capture life as it unfolded around the Butler Community Center in the summer of 2019.
Two years later, the Butler Photo Club convened at the center for the first time. The work created by the club's young documentary photographers was published earlier this year.
