In September 2019, young people around the world flooded streets and public squares to demand action on climate. In the U.S., climate strikes took place in all 50 states. In New York City, over one hundred thousand students skipped school to protest government inaction.
For a recent Lancet story, thousands of teenagers and young adults spoke with researchers about climate change. A majority said they experienced grief, depression and anxiety about the state of the planet, and about adults' refusal to take the climate crisis seriously. A majority also said they felt betrayed by the failure of governments around the world to immediately address the drivers of climate change.
